Emergency situation?

Do not waste time reading if the animal is not breathing or unconscious. Call a vet immediately.

CRITICAL

Refusing Food and Water

If an adult cat has not eaten normally for about 24 hours, and even much less time for a kitten, this is already a reason for an urgent visit.

  • Cats that stop eating quickly develop an increased risk of fatty liver disease (hepatic lipidosis).
  • Dry or pale gums, weakness, sunken eyes, infrequent urination, or refusal to drink make the situation even more urgent.

Not a substitute for a vet

The information in this app comes from open sources and the experience of cat owners. It does not replace a consultation or an examination by a vet. Decisions about your pet's health and care are the owner's to make — if in any doubt, contact a vet.
